Today many homes have water softener systems installed to combat hard water. These systems are fairly easy to maintain. The most common softeners utilize sodium pellets to soften the water. The pellets are placed inside a water basin and remove minerals such as calcium and magnesium from the hard water. The sodium pellets can last anywhere from three to six months depending on the homes water usage. They can be found at your local home improvement store or Wal-Mart. The cost of the pellets can range anywhere from $10 – $40. Once you have seen a reduction in the water softener effectiveness, you should immediately replace the pellets. Most softener systems have an easy to use draining system that removes the old pellets. Once the basin has been emptied of the old pellets you can proceed to add the new sodium pellets. Please refer to the owners manual for detailed instructions. Make sure that the regeneration timer on the system has been set correctly for maximum efficiency. After the new pellets have been added you will immediately notice a difference in the water. It is recommended that you perform regular maintenance on your system for optimal results. The maintenance you perform will keep your system running for many years to come.

If you even just a read a few of my blog posts, then you will understand that I like to handle a lot of the around the house work myself. This means that when I find something wrong, I will pull out the trusty hammer and fix it myself.
I recently discovered a grapefruit size hole in my roof. I wouldn’t mind doing it, but my roof is 30 feet above the ground, so I decided to call a local roofing contractor to help me out with that.

My friend was talking about her trip to the electronics store with her husband. They were looking at TV risers and she said it took him over an hour just to choose the style he wanted. She told him the material she would like and the color and the rest was up to him. She knew it would take him a while because every time they went to the electronics store they were there for a while. She just did not think it would take him so long to find that perfect TV riser.
